The NCL30186DDR2G is an AC-DC power factor corrected flyback controller for isolated and non-isolated ‘intelligently dimmable’ constant current LED drivers. The controller operates in quasi-resonant mode for optimal efficiency. The current control algorithm supports flyback, buck-boost and SEPIC topologies. Thanks to the new control method, the device is able to tightly regulate the constant LED current on the primary side. Auxiliary side feedback circuits, bias and optocouplers are therefore not required. The device is highly integrated with a very small number of external components. A rich set of built-in safety features simplifies the design. Particularly suitable for very compact space-efficient designs, the device supports analogue and PWM dimming via dedicated dimming inputs for controlling the average LED current. To ensure reliable operation at elevated temperatures, a user-configurable current foldback circuit is also provided.The NCL30186DDR2G is available in a SOIC10 package with the same body size as the standard SOIC8.
