The LTC3854EMSE is a high-performance synchronous buck switching DC/DC controller designed to drive a fully N-channel synchronous power MOSFET stage.

The LTC3854EMSE employs a 400kHz fixed-frequency current-mode architecture. It operates from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 38V (absolute maximum of 40V) and regulates output voltages from 0.8V to 5.5V.

The RUN/SS pin provides soft-start and enable functionality. The use of OPTI-LOOP compensation enables optimised transient response across a wide range of output capacitance and ESR values. During short-circuit conditions, the current foldback feature limits MOSFET thermal dissipation. This current foldback feature is disabled during soft-start.

The LTC3854EMSE features a minimum on-time of 75ns, making it highly suitable for high step-down ratios. The integrated robust MOSFET driver permits the use of high-power external MOSFETs to deliver output currents up to 20A.
