The LM5108DRCR is a high-frequency half-bridge gate driver with a maximum switching node (HS) rating of 100 V. This device allows control of two N-channel MOSFETs in topologies based on half-bridge configurations, such as synchronous buck, full-bridge, active clamped forward, LLC, and synchronous boost.
The LM5108DRCR devices have an interlock feature that prevents both outputs from going high at the same time when both inputs are high. This interlocking feature improves system robustness in motor driver and power tool applications. The power stage can be flexibly and quickly controlled using the enable and disable functions. Battery-powered tools can also use the LM5108DRCR's features to reduce standby current and respond to system faults. The inputs are independent of supply voltage and can have independent pulse widths. This allows for a very high degree of control flexibility. Both inputs and enables have sufficient hysteresis to improve system robustness in noise-sensitive applications such as motor drives.
The low-side and high-side outputs match each other's turn-on and turn-off as low as 1ns. This optimises dead time, which improves efficiency. 5V UVLO allows the driver to operate with a lower bias supply, which in turn allows the power stage to operate at a higher switching frequency without increasing switching losses. the VDD and HB UVLO threshold specifications are designed so that the high-side and low-side drivers are normally switched on at 5V. If the VDD and HB UVLO thresholds are the same, the designer requires a bias supply above the VDD UVLO threshold to turn on both the high-side and low-side drivers.
The on-board bootstrap diode eliminates the need for an external discrete diode, thus improving board space utilisation. The small package supports compact power supply designs such as power tools.
