The VN5E160STR is a single-channel high-side driver manufactured using ST's proprietary VIPower M0-5 technology, housed in an ultra-compact SO-8 package.
The VN5E160STR is specifically designed for driving automotive ground-connected loads, offering protection and diagnostic features, and supporting seamless 3V and 5V CMOS-compatible interfaces with any microcontroller.
The device integrates advanced protection features, including load current limiting, active management of surges and overloads via power limiting, over-temperature shutdown with automatic restart, and active overvoltage clamping.
Each output channel is associated with a dedicated low-level active digital status pin to provide enhanced diagnostic functions, including rapid detection of overloads and ground shorts, over-temperature indication, VCC short-circuit diagnosis, and open-load on/off status detection.
By pulling up the STAT_DIS pin, the diagnostic feedback for the entire device can be disabled, enabling wired or connected operation with other similar devices.
