The ISO7420MDR digital isolator provides current isolation up to 2500 Vrms for 1 minute per UL. The isolator has two isolation channels. Each isolated channel has a logical input and output buffer separated by a layer of silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation. The device is used in conjunction with an isolated power supply to prevent noise current on the data bus or other circuits from entering the local ground and thus interfering with or damaging the sensitive circuit. The suffix M indicates a wide temperature range (-40 °C to 125°C).
