Product Description

The DRV8871DDARQ1 device is a brush-type DC motor driver for printers, appliances, industrial equipment, and other small machines. Two logic inputs control the H-bridge driver, which consists of four N-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) capable of bi-directionally controlling the motor at peak currents up to 3.6A. Motor speed can be controlled by pulse-width modulation (PWM) of the inputs using a current-decay mode. If both inputs are set low, the motor driver enters a low-power sleep mode.


The DRV8871DDARQ1 devices feature advanced current regulation circuitry that does not use an analogue voltage reference or external sense resistors. This new solution uses standard low-cost, low-power resistors to set the current threshold. The device's ability to limit current to a known level significantly reduces system power requirements and eliminates the need for large capacitors to maintain a stable voltage, especially during motor startup and stall.


The device provides comprehensive protection against faults and short-circuit problems, including under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-current protection (OCP) and thermal protection (TSD). The device will automatically return to normal operation after the fault is removed.
