The HMC7912LP5E is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q upconverter in a RoHS-compliant low-stress injection moulded plastic SMT package. The device provides 14 dB of small-signal conversion gain and 18 dBc of sideband rejection performance. The HMC7912LP5E operates with an RF amplifier, fronted to an I/Q mixer with the LO driven by a driver amplifier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are also provided, requiring external 90° mixing to select the desired sideband. The I/Q mixer topology reduces interference sideband filtering requirements. The HMC7912LP5E is a compact alternative to hybrid single sideband inverters that eliminates the need for wire bonding and allows the use of surface mount fabrication techniques.
