The TPS40428RHAR device is a PMBus synchronous buck controller without a driver. Its default operating mode is Smart Power Mode, and it can operate in non-Smart Power Mode after PMBus programming and a power cycle. The device can be configured for dual-output or dual-phase operation. Additionally, the device supports up to four phases in a stack, enabling a maximum load current of 120A. Two-phase, three-phase, or four-phase interleaved phase shifting reduces input and output ripple, thereby minimizing input and output capacitance.
Its wide input voltage range supports 5V and 12V intermediate power buses. The reference voltage accuracy of 0.5% meets the precise voltage requirements of modern application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs).
In accordance with the PMBus standard, the TPS40428 device can be programmed for reference voltage, fault limit, UVLO threshold, soft-start time, and turn-on and turn-off delays.
Additionally, the device incorporates a precise measurement system for monitoring the output voltage, current, and temperature of each channel.
