The MAX20056BAUGB/V+ is a 6-channel LED driver with an integrated DC-DC switched boost/SEPIC controller and six 120mA sink current sources. The current-mode switching DC-DC controller provides the voltage required for the HB LED string.
The internal current-mode switched DC-DC controller supports boost, SEPIC or coupled inductor step-up/down circuits and operates over a programmable frequency range of 400kHz to 2.2MHz. Current-mode control provides fast response and simplifies loop compensation. Adaptive output voltage regulation method minimises power consumption in the LED current drive path.
External resistors allow individual channel currents to be set to the same value in the 20mA to 120mA range. The device features logic-controlled pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming with minimum pulse widths down to 500ns, with the option of phase-shifted LED or standard dimming control. When phase shifting is enabled, each string is switched on at a different time, effectively reducing input and output ripple and audible noise; when phase shifting is disabled, each current driver is switched on simultaneously, allowing parallel current drives to be achieved at currents higher than 120mA per string.
