The MAX21610ATJA/V+ is a 16-channel modular backlight driver for automotive screens. The integrated current outputs support up to 100mA of LED suction current per channel, depending on the ambient temperature. The device is powered from an external 3.3V or 5V supply, and the LED current-absorbing outputs can operate at up to 17V.

An output feedback pin (FB) is provided to control the external DC-DC converter, thus optimising the voltage margin and reducing the total system power consumption.

The global LED current for all strings can be set via the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and each channel can be set independently using PWM, which can be set via the internal oscillator or synchronised to the external CLKIO input.

The device has a high-speed SPI interface for control. Up to 10 devices can be daisy-chained to reduce connection complexity.

The MAX21610ATJA/V+ is available in a TQFN package and operates over the -40 to 125°C temperature range.
