The LM5168PDDAR synchronous buck converter is used to regulate over a wide input voltage range, minimizing the need for external surge suppression elements. The minimum controllable on-time of 50ns facilitates a large step-down conversion ratio, enabling direct step-down conversion from a 48V nominal input to a low voltage rail, reducing system complexity and solution costs. The LM516x is capable of operating at nearly 100% duty cycle when input voltage drops sharply to 6V, as required, making it ideal for industrial and high-count battery pack applications with a wide input voltage range.
