The LV8968BBUWR2G is a multi-purpose three-phase BLDC pre-driver for automotive applications, developed to comply with the ISO 26262 standard. This three-phase peripheral pre-driver provides a BEMF (reverse electromotive force) output, and its wide operating voltage range and AEC-Q100 certification make it ideal for automotive applications. Six gate drivers provide 400 mA (typical) of gate current to the external power bridge, allowing the use of low-resistance power FETs and logic level FETs, all of which are protected against over-current, short-circuit, over-temperature, and gate under-voltage. Multiple protection and monitoring features make the device suitable for applications with functional safety (FuSa) requirements. Three independent low-side source pins allow multiple shunt measurements to accommodate external FOC (Field Oriented Control) options.
The device also includes a programmable linear regulator, a fast current-sense amplifier, and a windowed watchdog for microcontroller and FOC support. Real-time parameter setting and diagnostics are available through the SPI interface. Key system parameters are programmable into non-volatile OTP memory.
With a junction temperature tolerance of up to 175°C and controllable via wide-level WAKE and PWM signals, the LV8968BBUWR2G is an ideal motor pre-driver for a wide range of ISO 26262-related actuators, fans and pumps.
