The LT4322RMS8 is a floating-point active rectifier controller designed to drive an external N-channel MOSFET in place of a rectifier diode. The controller is primarily intended for AC applications and can operate over the input supply frequency range from DC to 100kHz. During each cycle of the input AC waveform, the external N-channel MOSFET gate is boosted to provide a low diode forward voltage drop equivalent to 25mV. The resulting reduction in power loss eliminates thermal design issues and expensive heat sinks, resulting in a significant reduction in PC board area.
