The MAX16977RATE/V is a 2A, current-mode buck converter with a built-in high-side switch. The devices are designed to operate over a 3.5V to 36V input voltage range and consume only 30µA of quiescent current at no load. The switching frequency is adjustable from 1MHz to 2.2MHz via external resistors and can be synchronised to an external clock. The device output voltage is pin-selectable to a fixed 5V output or an adjustable 1V to 10V output. The wide input voltage range and high duty cycle operation under transient undervoltage make the device ideal for automotive as well as industrial applications.

The device operates in skip-pulse mode at light loads to help reduce current losses. Protection features include overcurrent limiting, overvoltage, and thermal shutdown with automatic recovery. The devices also feature a power-ready monitor for easy power sequencing.
