The LT1976BEFE is a 200kHz, monolithic, step-down switching regulator capable of accepting input voltages up to 60V. A high-efficiency 1.5A, 0.2Ω switch is integrated into the chip along with all necessary oscillators, controllers, and logic circuits. A current-mode topology is employed to achieve fast transient response and excellent loop stability.

The LT1976BEFE device employs innovative design techniques and a new high-voltage manufacturing process to achieve high efficiency over a wide input voltage range. By using Burst Mode® operation at low current levels, applying output bias to internal circuits, and utilising a power supply boost capacitor to fully saturate the power switch, efficiency is maintained across a wide output current range. The LT1976BEFE does not enter Burst Mode® operation at low currents, thereby eliminating low-frequency output ripple, though this comes at the cost of reduced efficiency. The patented circuitry maintains peak switch current across the entire duty cycle range. Shutdown mode reduces input power supply current to <1μA. The SYNC pin can be driven by a logic-level input to enable external synchronisation. A single capacitor connected between the CSS pin and the output provides a controlled output voltage ramp-up (soft-start). Additionally, both devices feature a programmable threshold and timeout power-good indicator, as well as thermal shutdown protection.

The LT1976BEFE is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package with a exposed pad lead frame, designed for low thermal resistance.
