Product Description

The AD8421ARZ is a low-cost, low-power, ultra-low-noise, ultra-low-bias-current, high-speed instrumentation amplifier that is particularly well suited for a wide range of signal conditioning and data acquisition applications. This breakthrough product features one of the highest common-mode rejection ratios (CMRR) available, enabling it to extract low-level signals in the presence of high-frequency common-mode noise across a wide temperature range.


The AD8421ARZ has a bandwidth of 10 MHz, a slew rate of 35 V/µs, and a settling time of 0.7 µs at 0.01% (G = 1), making it capable of amplifying high-speed signals and performing exceptionally well in applications requiring high-channel-count multiplexed systems. Even at high gain settings, the current-feedback architecture ensures this performance. For example, when G = 100, the bandwidth is 2 MHz, and the settling time is 0.6 µs. The AD8421ARZ has excellent distortion performance, making it suitable for demanding applications such as vibration analysis.


The AD8421ARZ offers industry-leading input voltage noise of 3 nV/√Hz and current noise of 200 fA/√Hz, with a quiescent current of only 2 mA, making it ideal for measuring low-level signals. For applications with high source impedance, the AD8421ARZ employs novel process technology and innovative design techniques to achieve exceptional noise performance (limited only by the sensor).


The AD8421ARZ employs a unique input protection method to ensure robust input while maintaining extremely low noise. With this input protection feature, even a voltage difference of 40 V between the supply rails will not cause damage.


The gain can be set from 1 to 10,000 using a single resistor. The reference pin can be used to apply precise offset to the output voltage.


The AD8421ARZ is rated for operation over a temperature range of −40°C to +85°C, with typical performance characteristics guaranteed up to 125°C, and is available in an SOIC package.
