The TCA8418EYFPR is a keyboard scanning device with integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. It operates within a voltage range of 1.65 V to 3.6 V and features 18 general-purpose input/output (GPIO) ports, supporting up to 80 keys via an I2C interface.
The TCA8418EYFPR optimises power consumption and bandwidth by processing keyboard scanning algorithms. This device is particularly suitable for use with processors that have limited GPIO interfaces.
The keyboard controller performs debouncing on inputs and maintains a 10-byte FIFO to store key press and release events, capable of storing up to 10 keys with overflow recycling functionality. The interrupt (INT) output can be configured to trigger immediately upon key press or release, or at the maximum rate. The device also includes a CAD_INT pin to indicate detection of CTRL-ALT-DEL (i.e., 1, 11, 21) key operations.
