The LT4351IMS generates a near-ideal diode using an external single or back-to-back N-channel MOSFET. This ideal diode component enables low-loss ‘or’ handling of multiple power supplies. Power supplies ‘or’ can be easily connected together to increase total system power and improve reliability with minimal impact on supply voltage or efficiency. Efficiently connects different types of power supplies ‘or’ together.
The IC monitors the input supply voltage relative to the load and turns on the MOSFET when the input supply voltage is high, and if the MOSFET turn-on resistance, RDS(ON), is small enough, the LT4351IMS will regulate the voltage across the MOSFET to 15mV. A STATUS pin is used to indicate the MOSFET on-state.
An internal boost regulator generates the MOSFET gate drive voltage. Low operating voltages allow ‘or’ handling of supplies as low as 1.2V.
The LT4351 will deactivate the power path during undervoltage or overvoltage conditions. These voltages are set by resistive voltage dividers on the UV and OV pins. The undervoltage threshold has a user-settable hysteresis. The overvoltage detection circuitry is filtered to suppress false triggering.
The LT4351IMS is available in a 10-pin MSOP package.
