The HMC662LP3E logarithmic detector converts RF signals at the input to proportional DC voltages at the output. The HMC662LP3E utilizes a continuous compression topology for high dynamic range over a wide input frequency range. As the input power increases, the continuous amplifier gradually saturates to generate a logarithmic function approximation.

A series of square law detector outputs are summed, converted to the voltage domain and buffered to drive the LOG OUT output. The HMC662LP3E provides +13 mV/dB nominal logarithmic slope, and -127 dBm intercept (18 GHz). The HMC662LP3E is ideally suited as a logarithmic detector for high-volume microwave radio and VSAT applications and is available in a RoHS-compliant compact 3x3 mm SMT plastic package.
