1.2-A High-Voltage Boost Converter in 2-mm × 2-mm SON Package

Product Description

The TPS61170-Q1 is a monolithic high voltage switching regulator with an integrated 1.2A/40V power metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET). The device can be configured in a variety of standard switching regulator topologies, including boost and SEPIC, and through its wide input voltage range supports applications that require input voltage from multiple batteries or regulated 5V/12V supply rails.


The TPS61170-Q1 operates at a switching frequency of 1.2MHz, allowing the use of thin inductors and low value ceramic input and output capacitors. An external loop compensation component provides the user with the flexibility to optimise loop compensation and transient response. The device has built-in protection features such as pulse-by-pulse overcurrent limiting, soft start and thermal shutdown.


The FB pin can be adjusted to a reference voltage of 1.229 V. This reference voltage can be reduced using a single-wire digital interface (EasyScale protocol) connected via the CTRL pin. Alternatively, a pulse width modulated (PWM) signal can be applied to the CTRL pin. The duty cycle of this signal reduces the feedback reference voltage proportionally.


The TPS61170-Q1 is available in a 6-pin 2mm × 2mm SON package and is suitable for compact power supply solutions.
