The ADF7012BRUZ is a low-power ASK/FSK/GFSK UHF transmitter designed for short-range wireless devices (SRDs). Output power, output channel, offset frequency, and modulation type are all programmable via four 32-bit registers.

Utilising fractional-N frequency division and a VCO with an external inductor, users can select frequencies within the 50 MHz to 1 GHz band. The fractional-N PLL features fast lock-up time, making the ADF7012BRUZ suitable for rapid frequency-hopping systems. Precise frequency offset and PLL phase noise performance also facilitate narrowband operation.

Five distinct modulation schemes are available: Binary Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK), Binary On-Off Keying (OOK), Gaussian On-Off Keying (GOOK), and Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK). Compensation registers permit output stepping with sub-1 ppm resolution, enabling indirect compensation for frequency errors in the reference crystal.

The registers are controlled via a simple three-wire interface. In power-saving mode, the device exhibits a typical quiescent current below 0.1 μA.
