Product Description

The DRV110APWR device is a PWM current controller for solenoid valves. The device is designed to reduce power loss by regulating the current with a well controlled waveform. The fast ramp-up of the solenoid current ensures proper opening of the valve or relay. After the initial rise, the solenoid current will remain peaked to ensure proper operation; thereafter, the current drops to a lower holding level to avoid overheating problems and reduce power loss.


Use an external capacitor to set the peak current duration. The peak and hold levels of the current ramp and the PWM frequency can be set individually using external resistors. The external setting resistors are not even necessary if the default values of the corresponding parameters are suitable for the application.


The DRV110APWR device has an internal Zener diode that limits the input voltage to VZENER for applications that require a higher supply voltage. The internal Zener diode allows the DRV110APWR to be powered from 120V and 230V AC supplies through a rectifier and current limiting resistor. Higher DC voltages, e.g. 48V, can also be regulated in this way.
