16-Channel Multi-Cell Battery Monitor

Product Description

The ADBMS6830MSW is a multi-cell battery pack monitor that can measure up to 16 series-connected battery cells with a total lifetime measurement error (TME) of less than 2 mV over the full temperature range.The ADBMS6830MSW has a measurement input range of -2 V to +5.5 V, suitable for most battery chemistry applications, and can measure busbar voltage. Provision is made to bypass the busbar without specifying any measurement channels.


All cells can be measured simultaneously and redundantly using two separate analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs). A continuously running ADC with a high sampling rate of 4.096 MHz reduces external analogue filtering and results in alias-free measurements. A subsequent programmable infinite impulse response (IIR) filter enables even higher noise reduction.


Multiple ADBMS6830MSWs can be connected in series to simultaneously monitor longer strings of high-voltage batteries. Each ADBMS6830MSW has an isolated serial port interface (isoSPI ™) for high-speed communication over long distances without RF interference. Multiple devices are daisy-chained to the host processor. The daisy chain operates in both directions, ensuring communication integrity even if there is an error in the communication path.
