The ADuM1253AUA is an ultra-low power I²C digital isolator designed for I²C/SMBus communications requiring electrical isolation. The device features a unidirectional clock (SCL) and bi-directional data (SDA) channel architecture, 2MHz high-speed communication, hot-swappable protection, and low logic level (VOL) features for applications such as battery management systems, industrial controls, and motor drives.

1 unidirectional channel (SCL) + 1 bidirectional channel (SDA) for I²C bus isolation.

Open-drain outputs for compatibility with standard I²C devices.

Low power design

Standby current as low as 21μA (per side) for battery-powered systems.

Operating current 270μA typical, only 142μA per channel at 400kHz.

Wide supply voltage range

VDD1/VDD2: 1.71V ~ 5.5V, supports level shifting.

Hot Swap Protection

Side 2 (SDA) supports interference-free hot-plugging and connects only when the bus is idle or an I²C stop condition is detected, preventing data corruption.

Strong Current Drive Capability

Side 1 (SCL) sink current 5mA, Side 2 (SDA) 50mA, support lower pull-up resistor, improve bus speed.

High Isolation Performance

Isolation voltage 445V(RMS), compliant with IEC 61000-4-5 ±10kV surge protection.

Narrow 8-pin SOIC package with 4mm creepage meets safety standards (UL 1577, IEC 62368-1, etc.).
