The ADT7481ARMZ is a three-channel digital thermometer with over-temperature and under-temperature alarms, specifically designed for personal computers and thermal management systems. It can measure its own ambient temperature or the temperatures of two remote thermodiodes. These thermodiodes may be mounted within the CPU or GPU, or implemented using discrete diodes connected to a transistor structure. High-precision measurement of ±1°C is achievable for ambient or remote thermodiode temperatures. The default measurement range is 0°C to +127°C (compatible with ADM1032), with an optional switch to a wide-range mode of -64°C to +191°C.
The ADT7481ARMZ communicates via a 2-wire serial interface compliant with the System Management Bus (SMBus) standard. Its SMBus address is 0x4C; an ADT7481-1 variant with SMBus address 0x4B is also available.
The ALERT output triggers an alarm signal when either the on-chip or remote temperature exceeds preset limits. The THERM output is a comparator output suitable for functions such as controlling cooling fan activation. If required, the ALERT output can be reconfigured as a second THERM output.
