The TPS2400DBVR overvoltage protection controller works in conjunction with an external N-channel MOSFET to isolate sensitive electronic components from damaging voltage spikes and surges. It is specifically designed to prevent damage to sensitive circuits from large transient voltages associated with the automotive environment (load dumps). When the TPS2400DBVR detects potentially damaging voltage levels, it disconnects the power supply from the load before any damage occurs.

Internal circuitry includes a trimmed bandgap reference, oscillator, Zener diode, charge pump, comparator, and control logic.The TPS2400 device is designed for use with external N-channel MOSFETs, which are available in a variety of voltages.
