The LTC4421IG connects one of the two input power supplies to a common output based on user-defined priority and validity. By definition, the supply connected to V1 is the higher priority supply. An external resistor divider sets undervoltage and overvoltage thresholds that limit the effective voltage window. Strong gate drivers allow fast switching of large external N-channel MOSFETs. Fast switching circuitry prevents both reverse and cross conduction. A fast comparator detects input shorts and quickly shuts down the N-channel MOSFET to minimise interruptions.
