The ADAR7251WBCSZ is a 16-bit, 4-channel, synchronous sampling analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) especially suited for applications such as automotive LSR-FMCW or FSK-FMCW radar systems. Each of the four channels has a built-in low-noise amplifier (LNA), programmable gain amplifier (PGA), equaliser, multi-bit sigma-delta ADC and an extraction filter.
The front-end circuitry can be connected directly to the MMIC outputs with only a few external passive components. The ADAR7251 eliminates the need for high-order anti-alias filters, driver op amps, and external bipolar power supplies. The ADAR7251 also provides accurate interchannel drift matching.
The ADAR7251WBCSZ features an on-chip phase-locked loop (PLL) that allows the system to employ a variety of clock frequencies for great flexibility. The CONV_START input and DATA_READY output signals synchronise the ADC with external ramps for applications such as FSK-FMCW radar.
The ADAR7251WBCSZ supports both serial and parallel interfaces with programmable sampling rates from 300 kSPS to 1.8 MSPS for easy connection to digital signal processors (DSPs) and microcontroller units (MCUs) in the system.
