The PGA2500IDB is a digitally controlled analogue microphone preamplifier designed specifically for the front end of high-performance audio analogue-to-digital (A/D) converters. Key features of the PGA2500IDB include low noise, wide dynamic range, and differential signal paths. The chip's built-in DC servo loop minimises DC offset, while the common-mode servo function can be used to enhance common-mode rejection ratio.
The PGA2500IDB offers a gain range of 10dB to 65dB (1dB per step) and includes a unity gain setting. The wide gain range enables the PGA2500IDB to be used with a variety of microphones. Gain settings and internal functions are programmed via a 16-bit control word, which can be loaded through a simple serial port interface. The serial data output pin supports daisy-chain connection of multiple PGA2500IDB devices. Four programmable digital outputs are provided for controlling external input pad switching, phantom power, high-pass filter, and polarity reversal functions. The PGA2500IDB requires +5V and -5V power supplies and is housed in a compact SSOP-28 package.
