The LT3010EMS8E-5 is a high voltage, micropower low dropout linear regulator. The device is capable of supplying 50mA output current and a 300mV dropout voltage.The LT3010EMS8E-5 is designed for use in battery-powered or high-voltage systems, and its low quiescent current (30μA in operation and 1μA in shutdown mode) makes it an ideal choice. The quiescent current is also well controlled under differential voltage conditions.

Other features of the LT3010EMS8E-5 include the ability to operate with very small output capacitors. These regulators are stable with only 1μF capacitors on the output, whereas most older devices require 10μF to 100μF capacitors. Small ceramic capacitors can be used without the necessary increase in ESR common with other regulators, and internal protection circuitry includes reverse battery protection, current limiting, thermal limiting, and reverse current protection.

The device provides a fixed 5V output voltage and can be used as an adjustable device with a 1.275V reference. The LT3010EMS8E-5 regulator is available in an 8-pin MSOP package with exposed padding for enhanced thermal handling.
