The HMC521ALC4 is a compact, gallium arsenide (GaAs), single-chip microwave integrated circuit (MMIC), in-phase quadrature (I/Q) mixer in a RoHS-compliant, 24-pin, ceramic, lead-free chip carrier (LCC) package.The HMC521ALC4 device can be used as either a mirror rejection mixer or a single-side upconverter. The mixer uses two standard, double-balanced mixer units and a 90° hybrid coupler, all on a GaAs metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) process. The low-frequency quadrature hybrid device is used to generate a 100 MHz intermediate frequency (IF) output. The device is a small replacement for hybrid mirror suppression mixers and single-sideband upconverter assemblies.The HMC521ALC4 does not require wire bonding and can be manufactured using surface mount fabrication techniques.
