The TDF8546JV is one of a new generation of complementary quad bridge-to-load (BTL) audio power amplifiers for automotive applications, featuring an optimal energy-efficiency mode and full I2C bus control diagnostics, including start-up diagnostics. The new optimal efficiency principle uses patented switching technology to reduce switching distortion. In order to reduce power consumption, the new optimal efficiency principle uses audio information from all four channels instead of just the front or rear signals. When used for front-to-back correlated audio signals, the dissipation is more than 65% lower than standard BTL. When used for front-to-back uncorrelated (delayed) audio signals, the dissipation is 35% less than standard BTL. 17% less power consumption than standard BTL for uncorrelated audio signals when using pre or post information.
The TDF8546JV amplifier uses a Silicon On Insulator (SOI)-based BCD process with a complementary DMOS output stage.The DMOS output stage ensures a high power output signal and perfect sound quality. The SOI-based BCD process ensures that the amplifier is robust, with no latch-up, good separation between the four independent channels, and each element is isolated with no base current.
