The RTL8201GR-VB-CG is a highly integrated Ethernet transceiver compatible with 10Base-T and 100Base-TX IEEE 802.3 standards. It provides all the physical layer functionality required to send and receive Ethernet packets over CAT.5 UTP cables.

The RTL8201GR-VB-CG uses state-of-the-art DSP technology and analogue front-end (AFE) to enable long distance data transmission and reception over UTP cables via the proprietary LD100 mode. For long distance applications over a single pair of UTP cable or coaxial cable, the RTL8201GR-VB-CG employs 100BASE-T1 and another proprietary mode, LD10, to provide stable transmission and reception.

For 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 100BASE-T1, LD10 and LD100, data transfer between MAC and PHY is via MII (Media Independent Interface) or RMII (Reduced Independent Media Interface).
