The RTL8156BG-CG-10/100/1000M/2.5G Ethernet controller combines a quad-speed IEEE 802.3 compliant Media Access Controller (MAC), quad-speed Ethernet transceiver, USB 3.0 bus controller, and embedded memory.

The RTL8156BG-CG uses state-of-the-art DSP technology and mixed-mode signalling with embedded one-time programmable (OTP) memory to replace external EEPROM.

The RTL8156BG-CG features USB 3.0, which provides higher bandwidth and improved protocols for data exchange between the host and the device. USB 3.0 also provides more advanced power management features for energy savings.
