The CTC21108 integrates eight independent 10/100/1000M Ethernet transceivers and supports all physical layer (PHY) functions of 1000Base-T, 100Base-TX, and 10Base-Te Ethernet over Class 5 UTP cables (except 1000Base-T half-duplex). 10Base-Te functionality can also be implemented on Class 3 or Class 4 standard cables.

The chip includes PCS, PMA, and PMD sublayer support for encoding/decoding, clock/data recovery, digital adaptive equalization, echo canceller, crosstalk cancellation, and line driver, among other required support circuit functions. The CTC21108 also integrates an internal mixer to support the use of a low-cost 1:1 transformer module.

The chip supports 1 QSGMII output per four separate transceivers, reducing PCB wiring.

The CTC21108 can be flexibly configured for different working modes:
