The HMC6505ALC5 is a compact gallium arsenide (GaAs), pHEMT, microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) frequency upconverter in a RoHS-compliant package that operates over the frequency range of 5.5 GHz to 8.6 GHz. The device offers a small-signal slew rate gain of 15 dB and sideband rejection of 22 dBc.
The HMC6505ALC5 uses in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) mixers before a variable gain amplifier (VGA), which is driven by an active local oscillator (LO). IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided, and an external 90° mixing mode is required to select the desired sidebands. the I/Q mixer topology reduces the need to filter unnecessary sidebands.
The HMC6505ALC5 is available in a 5 mm × 5 mm, 32-terminal Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.
