The HMC6146BLC5A is a compact GaAs MMIC I/Q variable gain upconverter in a pinless RoHS compliant SMT package. The device provides 12 dB of small-signal conversion gain with 25 dBc sideband rejection and 17 db of gain control.

The HMC6146BLC5A features an RF variable gain amplifier preceded by an I/Q mixer with LO driven by an X2 multiplier. IF1 and IF2 mixer inputs are provided and the desired sideband can be selected by external 90° mixing.

The I/Q mixer topology reduces the requirement for filtering against interfering sidebands. The HMC6146BLC5A is a smaller alternative to mixing single-sideband upconverters and supports surface-mount manufacturing technology, eliminating the need for wire bonding.
