The TPS61280 synchronous boost converter power solution is suitable for products powered by Li-ion, nickel-rich, silicon anode, Li-ion or LiFePO4 batteries. The voltage range is optimised for single-cell portable applications such as smartphones or tablets. When the device is used as a high power front regulator, the TPS61280 extends battery runtime and breaks input current and voltage limits of the power supply system. In shutdown mode, the TPS61280 can operate in true straight-through mode, consuming only 3µA of quiescent current, thus extending battery life. During operation, when the battery is in a good state of charge, the low resistance, high efficiency integrated passthrough path connects the battery to the powertrain. If the battery reaches a low state of charge and its voltage falls below the minimum system voltage required, the device will seamlessly switch to boost mode to use the full battery capacity.
