The MAX33250EELC is an isolated 2Tx/2Rx and 1Tx/1Rx RS-232 transceiver. The logic UART side is galvanically isolated from the field side by 600VRMS (60sec). 600VRMS (60sec) of galvanic isolation is provided between the UART side and the field side. The barrier protects the logic UART side from transients from the field side. It also eliminates ground loops and large differences in ground potential between the two sides that could potentially corrupt data reception and transmission.
