The Monolithic Power System (MPS) MP5981GLU Hot Swap Controller Solution IC is a monolithic integrated controller and switch containing a high-side MOSFET and other circuits. These circuits can operate independently or be controlled by a hot-swap controller. Each device can drive up to 50A of continuous current at room temperature. When airflow is present, continuous currents of up to 60 A are available to limit the inrush current to the load when the circuit card is plugged into a live backplane power supply, thus limiting the backplane voltage drop. The gate voltage is controlled via a current-limited reference input and a soft-start ramp to limit the internal MOSFET current.
