The MAX16984AATJB/V automotive high-current buck converter integrates a 5V automotive-grade buck converter capable of driving up to 3.0A of current, a USB host charger adapter emulator, and a USB protection switch for automotive USB host applications.The USB protection switch provides high ESD, short-circuit protection, and features integrated host charger port detection circuitry. The buck converters operate at up to 28V and can withstand load-surge transients up to 40V. Optimised for high-frequency operation, the resistors are programmable from 310kHz to 2.2MHz, and with these features, efficiency, noise and board space can be optimised according to application requirements.
