The ADAR4000ACPZ is a 2 GHz to 18 GHz single-input, four-output beamforming IC (BFIC) optimised for phased array transmit applications. Its true time-delay core ensures beam-skew-free broadband operation. The full-scale delay of the time delay unit (TDU) can be set to 254 ps or 508 ps, with minimum steps of 2 ps and 4 ps, respectively. At 2 GHz, the phase adjustment range is 365°, while at 18 GHz, the minimum phase step is 13°.
Each path also features a 31.5 dB digital step attenuator (DSA) with a step size of 0.5 dB.
All on-chip register controls are managed via a simple 3-wire or 4-wire serial port interface (SPI). Four address pins allow the SPI to control up to 16 devices on the same serial line.
On-chip random access memory (RAM) and first-in, first-out (FIFO) memory can store up to 64 and 16 beam states, respectively. The on-chip sequencer can be used to select and advance beam states, with the source being either RAM or FIFO.
The ADAR4000ACPZ is available in a 36-pin 6 mm × 6 mm LFCSP package, with an operating temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.
