The ADAR3003ACBZ is a beamforming chip for polarised phased arrays, featuring transmission from 27 GHz to 31 GHz, 1 beam input, and 4 dual-polarisation element outputs. Each of the eight RF paths passes through a variable amplitude and phase (VAP) module, providing a gain adjustment range of ≥31.5 dB and a phase adjustment range of 360°, with gain and phase resolution of ≤0.5 dB and 5.625°, respectively. Each VAP includes a digital step attenuator (DSA) and a phase shifter unit (PSU). An integrated RF power detector is located at the output of each path, with a measurement range of 18 dB.
Access to all on-chip control registers and memory is via a simple 3-wire or 4-wire serial port interface (SPI). Additionally, the SPI can control up to sixteen devices on the same serial line via four address pins. The random access memory (RAM) can store up to 128 beam states, with each beam polarisation organised into 64 beam states. The on-chip sequencer selects and advances beam states from the RAM or first-in-first-out (FIFO).
The ADAR3003ACBZ is packaged in a 128-ball 5mm × 5mm wafer-level chip-scale package (WLCSP) with a rated temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
