The ADAR3002ACBZ is a beamforming chip for polarised phased arrays, featuring 17.7 GHz to 21.2 GHz reception, 2 beams, and 4 dual-polarisation elements. Each of the 16 RF paths provides a gain adjustment range of ≥31 dB and 360-degree phase adjustment through variable amplitude and phase (VAP) blocks, with resolutions of ≤0.5 dB and 5.625 degrees, respectively. Each VAP includes a digital step attenuator (DSA) and a phase shifter unit (PSU).
On-chip control registers and memory can be accessed via a simple 3-wire or 4-wire serial port interface (SPI). Additionally, the SPI can control up to sixteen devices on the same serial line via four address pins. Random access memory (RAM) can store up to 256 beam states, with each beam organised into 64 beam states per polarisation. The timing controller selects and advances beam states from RAM or FIFO.
The ADAR3002ACBZ is packaged in a 176-ball 6.6 x 6.6 mm wafer-level chip-scale package (WLCSP) with an operating temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.
