The AD5254BRUZ50 is a dual-channel, 256-bit, I2C, non-volatile memory, digital potentiometer. It provides electronic adjustment functionality equivalent to mechanical potentiometers, adjusters, and variable resistors. The device's versatile programming capabilities support multiple operating modes, including read/write access to RDAC and EEMEM registers, resistor increment/decrement, ±6 dB resistor range changes, and cursor setting readback. Additionally, it offers extra EEMEM for storing user-defined information such as memory data from other components, lookup tables, or system identification information.
The AD5254BRUZ50 allows the master I2C controller to write any 64/256-step cursor settings to the RDAC registers and store them in EEMEM. After storage, these settings are automatically restored to the RDAC registers at system power-up; they can also be dynamically restored.
The AD5254BRUZ50 provides additional increment, decrement, and ±6 dB step changes in synchronous or asynchronous channel update modes. The increment and decrement functions support stepwise linear adjustment, while the ±6 dB step changes are equivalent to doubling or halving the RDAC cursor setting. These functions are suitable for steep slope adjustments, non-linear adjustments such as white LED brightness, and volume control.
The AD5254BRUZ50 features a patented resistor tolerance storage function, allowing users to access the EEMEM and obtain the end-to-end absolute resistance values of the RDAC for precision applications.
