The HMC394LP4E is a low noise GaAs HBT programmable 5-bit counter in a 4x4 mm lead-free surface mount package. At input frequencies up to 2.2 GHz, the device can perform continuous frequency division in the N range 2 to 32. The output voltage swing is 800 mV, and the duty cycle is inversely proportional to N. At 100 kHz offset, the counter has additive SSB phase noise as low as −153 dBc/Hz, making it ideal for low-noise frequency synthesizer applications.
