The MAX2084CXL is a highly integrated 16-channel ultrasound receiver optimized for high channel count, high-performance portable and trolley ultrasound systems.

In this highly compact receiver, each channel has built-in LNA, VGA, AAF, ADC and several digital post-processing circuits (including digital HPF). At a sampling rate of 50msps, it achieves an ultra-low noise factor of 2.4dB at RS = RIN = 200Ω, with power consumption as low as 143mW per channel. In addition, it has a lower power operation mode, as low as 100mW per channel, but AC performance will be reduced.

Features

16 full channel TR switches, input coupling capacitors, LNA, VGA, AAF, CWD mixers, 14-bit ADCs, bypass digital HPF and digital mixing to baseband.

When RIN = RS = 200Ω, the noise factor of the all-channel receiver is extremely low, 2.4dB.

At FIN= 5MHz and bandwidth of 2MHz, the SNR of the high dynamic range receiver is 81dBFS.

The receiver (including TR switch, LNA, VGA, AAF and ADC) achieves full performance at low power (167mW per channel) in normal imaging mode of 65Msps and 100mW per channel in ultra-low power mode.

Optional Active input impedance LNA offers 50, 100, 200, and 400 input options (LNA gain = 18dB) as well as open feedback loop options with input impedance of approximately 3kΩ at 2MHz and 1.2 kω at 5MHz

Integrated analog high-pass filters, 10MHz, 15MHz, 20MHz and 30MHz selectable 3-pole Butterworth anti-aliasing filters and a bypassed programmable digital high-pass filter.

Fully integrated, high-performance CWD beamformers with independent I and Q mixers for improved dynamic range (157dBc/Hz per channel for 2MHz carrier at 1kHz) and sensitivity.

The bypass demodulator has an NCO with an SNR of 96dB and a 16 x M tapped polyphase extraction filter with a programmable extraction rate range of 2 ≤ M ≤ 32
