The MAX98395 digital input Class DG amplifier features industry-leading static power with IA/detection and dynamic margin tracking (DHT) technology. MAX98395 precision output current and voltage monitoring (1/V detection) supports speaker protection algorithms running through the host device. Spread-spectrum modulation (SSM) and edge-rate control minimise EMI and eliminate the need for output filtering found in conventional Class D devices.
The MAX98395 DG class amplifier incorporates two power rails, VBAT and PVDD, to power the speaker amplifier. In addition, the DHT automatically optimises the available margin of the DG class amplifier to maintain consistent distortion and listening levels due to sudden transients and variations in supply voltage caused by shortened battery life. the DHT module supports dynamic range compressors (DRC) and limiters (which can be used as signal distortion limiters (SDL) or standard signal level limiters (SLL)).
The MAX98395 features a PCM interface for audio data and a standard I2C interface for control data communication. the PCM interface provides audio playback via I2S, left-aligned and TDM audio data formats. In TDM mode, the device can support up to 16 channels of audio data. Due to the unique clock structure, no external master clock is required for PCM communication, thus reducing the pin count and simplifying the board layout.
The amplifier features thermal foldback protection to maintain normal operation when the thermal limits of the device are reached. When enabled, thermal foldback protection automatically reduces output power when the temperature exceeds a user-specified threshold.
The MAX98395 is available in a 0.4-mm pitch, 28-ball wafer-level package (WLP) and operates over an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
