The TMS320VC5501ZAV300 is a high-performance, low-power, fixed-point TMS320C55™ digital signal processor (DSP).

The TMS320VC5501ZAV300 peripheral set includes an External Memory Interface (EMIF) that provides seamless access to asynchronous memories such as EPROM and SRAM, as well as high-speed, high-density memories such as synchronous DRAM. Other peripherals include a UART, watchdog timer, and I-Cache. two full-duplex Multi-Channel Buffered Serial Ports (McBSP) provide seamless interfaces to a wide range of industry-standard serial devices for multi-channel communication with up to 128 individually enabled channels. The Host Port Interface (HPI) is an 8-bit parallel interface used to enable host processors to access the 5501's 16K words of internal memory.The HPI operates in multiplexed mode to provide a seamless interface to a variety of host processors.The DMA controller provides data movement for six separate channel contexts without CPU intervention. Also included are two general-purpose timers, eight dedicated general-purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, and an analogue phase-locked loop (APLL) clock generation.
