The CLC014 Adaptive Cable Equaliser is a low cost product for equalising data transmitted over cable as a monolithic solution (or any medium with similar dispersion loss characteristics).The CLC014 simplifies the task of high speed data recovery using a single chip solution and a minimum number of external solution components. The equaliser automatically adapts to equalise any cable length from zero metres to an attenuated length of signal of 40 dB at 200 MHz. this is equivalent to 300 metres over Belden 8281 metres or 120 metres over Category 5 UTP (unshielded twisted pair). the CLC014 offers excellent jitter performance: 180 PSpp for 270 Mbps data already over 200 metres of Belden 8281 cable. This exceptional performance mance provides a wide margin of error in the digital data link. The equalizer is powered by a single power supply and has a power control consumption of only 290 mW. The small 14-pin SOIC package allows high density placement of multiple components for channel applications such as routers. The equaliser operates from a variety of data rates below 50 Mbps to rates in excess of 650 Mbps. The equaliser can be flexibly driven to allow single-ended or differential inputs. Its high common mode rejection provides excellent immunity to noise interference. On-chip quantization feedback eliminates baseline drift. Additional features include a carrier detect output and an output mute pin, which when connected together, mutes the output when no signal is present A buffered eye monitor output is provided for viewing the previous equalisation signal parator. a differential AEC pin allows the user to set the optimum adaptive loop time constant with an external capacitor. In addition, the CLC014 is not sensitive to pathological patterns inherent in the video industry standard.
